The President Calls Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Members to the White House

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Devastating Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support public safety in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that educators desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event led the administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
