Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with results like these.”

He stated, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
