Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
